Lipinski Announces $1.4M Grant for Pillars Community Health in La Grange (April 22, 2019)

Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) today announced that Pillars Community Health in LaGrange has been awarded a $1.4 million federal grant to support the delivery of comprehensive, affordable, and quality primary care services. Pillars Community Health received the FY 2019 Health Center Program Service Area Competition (SAC) award through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“Pillars Community Health is a tremendous resource for the people of my district,” said Rep. Lipinski. “They are one of only a few nonprofits in the state of Illinois to integrate primary medical and dental care with mental health, early education, and social services. I’m proud to be an advocate for the essential services they provide to people who need it most.”

Pillars Community Health is a community-based health organization with long-lasting roots in Illinois. The organization has 11 locations in the western and southwestern suburbs and provides services including community healthcare, behavioral and mental healthcare, and domestic and sexual violence services. Pillars Community Health is frequently recognized for its quality of care and has been a recipient of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Quality Award from HHS for five successive years.

“Pillars Community Health is very proud to receive continued funding for our Community Health Center Services, including health care for the homeless funding,” said Angela Curran, JD, LLM, President and CEO of Pillars Community Health. “These grant dollars enable Pillars Community Health to continue to provide quality medical, dental, and behavioral health services for low-income, uninsured, and underinsured residents of western Cook County.”

Pillars Community Health was previously awarded a grant from HHS in October 2018 to help expand access to treatment for substance use and mental health services, and to advance the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) program. For more information about Pillars, visit
