Lipinski Votes to Condemn Trump Administration's Participation in Lawsuit Aimed to Overturn Affordable Care Act (April 2, 2019)

Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) released the following statement today on H. Res. 271:

“I voted for this bipartisan resolution today because the president should not be involved in a lawsuit that would invalidate the ACA’s protections for people with pre-existing conditions and limit Americans’ access to affordable healthcare. The ACA has shortcomings that need to be fixed, but that should be done through legislation in Congress, not through the judicial branch. It doesn’t make much sense that the president would ask the courts to eliminate every provision of the ACA without having a plan in place to replace it. I worked on a bipartisan bill last Congress that would have kept many of the ACA’s popular provisions while simultaneously making improvements, including lower premiums for Americans. Our focus should be on improving the ACA, not abandoning it altogether.”
