Lipinski Statement on the White House Infrastructure Meeting (April 30, 2019)

Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) released the following statement today regarding the infrastructure meeting at the White House with congressional Democrats and President Trump:

“I’m encouraged that the meeting of congressional Democratic leaders with the President yielded an agreement to support a $2 trillion investment in our nation’s infrastructure.  This is a long overdue development that has the potential to create millions of jobs, grow local economies, and improve the lives of all Americans.  I’ve been a leading advocate for a robust federal infrastructure bill, especially for the improvement of transportation systems in my district, in our region, and across the country.  This meeting produced a good first step.  Now Democrats and Republicans must come together on a responsible plan to fund this widely supported investment. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Chair of the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee, I look forward to these discussions and the development of a bipartisan solution to get this done.  We must keep this momentum moving forward on behalf of the American people."
